Do you guys like watching movies?

I used to watch movies a lot before Corona.

I don't think I've seen it much lately

 

When I was going through a depressing time due to Corona

After seeing it by chance

There's a movie that comes to mind every summer.

as soon as, After Sun are you!

 

 

 

After Sun Information and Plot

 

The movie was released in 2022 and has a running time of approximately 101 minutes.

Directed by Charlotte Wells, it stars Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio.

It was invited to the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and won awards at numerous film festivals!

 

plot To briefly introduce,

It's a story about a vacation Sophie took with her father to Turkey when she was a child.

For young Sophie, this summer seems like a happy memory,

Inside it, my father's deep depression and loneliness are reflected.

Later, as an adult, Sophie watched footage from an old camcorder.

I get to see into my father's feelings that I didn't know at the time.

 

 

After Sun Ending / Personal Interpretation

 

There are many different interpretations of the final scene of After Sun.

It's clear that it represents the disconnect between Sophie and her father.

 

It could be my father's death, or it could be some other reason.

It could have suddenly broken off, or it could have gradually drifted apart.

It's like every relationship we have is going to end someday.

 

There is no set answer, but

I think the two of them naturally drifted apart.

After Sun Review

 

I often thought it was like a documentary

Was it because Sophie's camcorder-based perspective often appeared?

The movie itself flows very calmly.

Strangely, tears came to my eyes

 

The image of the father in this movie

I think it was because my father's appearance overlapped a lot.

I am not yet in the position of a parent,

Still, I don't think I'll ever be able to understand the heart of a father who has children.

That's why I think I cried more while watching the movie.

 

Sophie steps on the carpet her father bought for a lot of money.

If you can feel the stories contained within it with the soles of your feet

My father's feelings when he bought that carpet one day,

Through the vacation, I felt emotions that I had not felt before.

I thought it would be nice to feel it completely

 

The word "aftersun" is said to mean "cream applied to tanned skin."

Sophie's skin tanned a lot during her time in Turkey with her father.

Now, Sophie doesn't have a father who will turn his back on her.

Wouldn't Sophie's camcorder, which we took together, play the role of that cream?
